Course Content: The goals of the course are to provide further knowledge of basic sociolinguistic issues and some ability to test the different theoretical approaches they manifest. The dependence of linguistic communication on society, situation and the social role of the individual: language and society vs. linguistic society. Linguistic interaction. Linguistic socialisation. Linguistic repertoire. Social and geographical linguistic variation and attitudes to different linguistic varieties. Linguistic variation and linguistic change.
